A DEL SHANNON TRIBUTE

24-year old musician and filmmaker, Joe Glickman, was recently selected as one of the featured artists on an upcoming tribute album to legendary rock n’ roll star, Del Shannon, famous for his hit song “Runaway.” Glickman, otherwise known as Joe G, has recorded the song “So Long Baby,” written by Shannon for the album.

His backup group, The Zippity Doo Wop Band, consists of other known musicians from The Classics IV, The Refrigerators, The Swing Docs, Cole Broderick Quintet and more. Also featured on the tune is the co-writer of “Runaway,” Max Crook, famous for his keyboard solos on all of Del’s records. Other artists on the tribute cd include The Electric Light Orchestra, Randy Bachman of BTO, and Bobby Vee.

To promote the song’s national release, they will be filming a music video - reproducing the 1950’s era, complete with costumes, cars and décor. Shooting will take place at various locations around New York and in Coopersville (Del Shannon’s hometown) to film on August 9th-11th.

Filming will begin at Rosie’s Diner in Rockford, MI on Friday, August 9th. Shooting will resume on Main Street in Coopersville on the evening of the 10th and run until approximately midnight. With the co-operation of the Coopersville & Marne Railroad, they will shoot on the train Sunday afternoon. Glickman hopes that if the song is successful, the video will ultimately be seen on MTV or VH-1.

“We are currently seeking male and female extras between the ages of 17 and 45, aspiring or established actors and models, no experience necessary, for inclusion in the film. We are also seeking out any owners of classic cars prior to 1961,” said Glickman.
